Human Development

It is viewed that an instrument should be established and efforts should be taken to ensure that denizens of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) understand the full implication of the call made by Vice Chancellor Professor Dato' Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim at the 2013 Vice-Chancellor Annual Speech Day.

In his speech, titled 'Towards Excellence, Back to Basics' (Menuju Kecermerlangan, Kembali Kepada Asas), the message is to groom and produce denizens of UMP who are not only productive but also of good standing in personality.

The university opined that it is really important to mobilise a human development programme through the Islamic Centre and Human Development. It is imperative to maintain the culture of seeking knowledge and advice so they will continue to be primarily motivated by the desire to understand and appreciate fine values, be encouraged towards promoting a culture of transparency when working, to have integrity and trustworthiness as well as to create a conducive working environment.

As such, a human development programme is seen to have the capability of grooming the denizens of UMP towards being a workforce that has a good balance in personality and work potentials. This can be carried out based on the National Education Philosophy that spells out having one continuos effort towards further developing the potential of an individual as a whole, and to have an integrated effort to produce a well-balanced person - in terms of intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical. This is line with the efforts to nurture Core Value (Nilai Teras) among UMP denizens.
